£1,000 off B-King, more luxury for Burgman

New deals from Suzuki include a massive reduction on the wild B-King, while the Burgman scooter goes further upmarket.
The flamboyantly-styled B-King, one of the most powerful naked bikes available thanks to its detuned Hayabusa motor, has had a £1,000 price cut to £8,116 on the road.

The B-King started life as a wild concept show bike, but it generated so much interest that Suzuki decided to put it into full production, creating a big, head-turning bike with massive performance. There are many distinctive styling cues, including the huge, high-rise twin silencers, the Thirties streamliner-style headlamp and indicators set into the broad fuel tank.

Yet, like the Hayabusa, the B-King is an easy-going bike to ride when you want it to be, and surprisingly manoeuvrable for a machine of this size. That big price cut makes it look a lot better.

Suzuki has launched a new, high-spec version of the Burgman scooter, one of only a handful of scooters on the market that has enough space beneath the seat for a briefcase – there’s a relatively cavernous 62 litres of usefully shaped space under there.

The Burgman 400ZA has the same 400cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine as the standard version, but also features ABS brakes, heated grips, hand guards, passenger backrest, titanium-coloured wheels, a brown seat and a wood-finish dash. The price is £5,400 compared with £4,710 for the stock Burgman 400.

Ten green motorcycles full on fun

An average motorcycle gets about double the mileage of even the most fuel efficient cars but the downside is that they emit about 15 times more pollution than an average four-wheeler. Ecofriendly motorcycles have been in vogue for quite some time now and are a big hit among environment lovers. If you are crazy about two-wheelers but at the same time are looking for the best environmentally benign products, then hit the break for a list of the 10 best ecofriendly motorcycles.
This creation by Mission motors claims a top speed of 150 mph. The power source is a high energy lithium-iron battery pack providing a range of 150 miles per charge. Launched in April 2009, the tailpipe had been eliminated, adding the features of silence and zero carbon emissions.
This cool-looking aluminum-extruded two-wheeler weighs only 280 pounds and is an entry level ride both for experts and beginners. Its premium design is targeted toward the eco-luxury segment. It runs on lithium-phosphate power cells, which remains good for about 3 hours and provide a range of 45 miles per charge.

Weighing a mere 151 pounds, this is a new creation by Zero Motorcycles in the electric motocrosser segment. The silent bike makes riding possible in areas off-limits due to noise restrictions. The motorcycle uses the typical lithium-ion battery good for 2 hours or 40 miles and takes less than 2 hours to charge.

Honda Luxury Bike

Honda’s gargantuan Gold Wing is truly the cruise ship of the motorcycle world. You don’t hop on it, you board it – and the view from the bridge, as you survey the ocean of bitumen stretched out before you, can’t help but evoke feelings of power and command.

It’s no frigate, that’s for sure, but what it lacks in manoeuvrability it more than makes up for with sheer, unadulterated luxury. It’s the Queen Mary 2 on wheels. Not convinced? Read on…
The ’08 Wing’s list of appointments reads like a luxury car brochure. To start with, the standard bike comes with an AM/FM four-speaker stereo system, electronic cruise control and electronically adjustable suspension (preload on the rear shock).

Then there are the heated handlebar grips, and the independently-operated electrically heated rider and pillion seats. There’s also a rider to pillion intercom system – provided you buy helmets to suit – and there’s even a reverse gear.

That’s right, it’s got reverse – simply engage neutral, hit the reverse button, and then press the starter button to crank the bike backwards using the starter motor. With a claimed dry weight of 369kg, or 381kg for the ABS and airbag-equipped Luxury-spec model pictured here, it’s kinda handy!
In addition to the aforementioned safety gear, the Luxury version sports a multi-disc CD stacker (with MP3 adapter), pannier bags (to unpack or pack the bike’s integrated panniers and top box in seconds), driving lights (not yet fitted to our test machine) and satellite navigation.

The sat-nav is superb, and comes with a full-colour display, a super-fast processor, optional voice commands and an incredibly intuitive menu system. For safety’s sake, you can’t use the menu system while you’re on the move, but you can adjust the volume of the voice commands or zoom in or out via handlebar controls.

$45,000 Limited Edition Super Squalo Bike

If you love to spend richly on luxury bikes and are dedicated more towards Ducati then you might just give it a thought to shift your loyalties a bit and try this $45,000 200 bhp Super Squalo that is loosely modelled on a Ducati 999. The superbike is designed by world renowned motorcycle designer John Keogh along with Vee Two’s Brook Henry and Sprintex. The unique machine will be hand-built and will be manufactured in limited edition of 99 only and each machine will be individually numbered.
Gizmag reports that, ‘The bike will feature the latest top shelf gear including a close ratio six speed gearbox, powershifter, ceramic coated dual exhaust system, Ohlins suspension front and rear, Marchesini wheels, digital race dashboard and a rear-facing camera and in-dash video screen for rearwards view.’ The frame of the luxury bike is a Ducati 999 unit with adjustable rake and trail and wheelbase. So, get ready to vroom guys!!

Honda GL 1200 Goldwing Aspencade

In the move, it is not the size of the Aspencade that is the most obvious thing. It is the smooth and fluid engine; its capability of running at well over the ton for mile after mile, never straining, always comfortable, and never, ever, feeling short of power.

Honda's Gold Wing of the mid-1970s started big and kept getting bigger. In its original form it was an un-faired machine, and the liquid-cooled flat four engine displaced 1000cc. At that time, nobody had seen anything quite so enormous.

It was not long before the luxury touring riders of the USA started fitting out their Gold Wings for the long haul down Easy Street. Their requirements gave birth to an accessory industry supplying everything from super-soft 'King and Queen' seats to gigantic fairings with matching three-piece luggage equipment, as well as air suspension to smooth the ride to the standards of a family car.

The Aspencade (named after the biggest gathering of touring riders in the USA) was Honda's answer. It was as if to say: 'Anything you can, we can do better.' They meant it. The Aspencade comes equipped with everything. With panniers and a gigantic top box, you can carry luggage enough for three. Want to take the barbecue? Load it right on.

The massive fairing not only offers complete weather protection, it is also built to the very highest standards, with plenty of lock-up storage compartments, and a ventilation system. It is possible to order a stereophonic radio and tape player as well, to add music to the passing zephyr. The engine certainly makes no noise loud enough to drown it, though you should not use the Aspencade's considerable speed potential if you want to hear the high notes.

To cope with the sort of loads an Aspencade rider might wish to carry, Honda installed their own air suspension - with an extra refinement. An on-board compressor is built into the bike, and the springing can be made harder or softer without even stopping; firming the ride up for more stability when swinging through the mountain bends, and then softening it to a lulling wallow on the long straights through the deserts. Of course, the gross tonnage of the Aspencade is not to everybody's taste. This tourer supreme is a specialist vehicle, just as much as a race-replica Ducati, but in a different way.

Honda overcame the weight by expanding the engine to 1200cc, broadening the spread of the power as well as adding to peak performance. The Aspencade retains a healthy acceleration from low to high speeds, as well as an ability to cruise relatively economically in a tall top gear. With shaft drive and that big, lazy engine, maintenance is an infrequent chore. The Aspencade was developed with long distances as well as high speeds in mind. It will keep on running as long as its pampered and cossetted rider wants it to.

It was designed for the US roads and is as American as a Japanese bike can be. Honda get round proposed or actual import restrictions by assembling the Aspencade in their US factory. Honda's new machine has spawned imitators from the Japanese rivals. But Honda did it first, and the bike is still the definitive heavyweight luxury tourer.

Ecosse Lconoclast Limited Addition MotorCycles

If you want to add a unique bike to your garage, luxury motorcycle builder American Moto Works has teamed up with exclusive online retailer 20ltd to create the Iconoclast, a mean looking performance bike that will be limited to only 11 editions.

The Ecosse Iconoclast rocks a 2-liter engine that throws off 135 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque, allowing the bike to rocket from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds and run the quarter mile in the low 10’s. A digital speedometer and programmable tachometer allow rides to measure 0-60, 0-100, quarter-mile passes, and provide many other options.

A number of custom touches on the Iconoclast distinguish the bike, including its carbon fiber bodywork, matte black finish, silver hand-painted pin stripe outline on the fuel tank, charcoal grey powder-coated chassis, and black forged aluminum 17’ wheels. For rider comfort, the Iconoclast has also been fitted with gel-padded seats. To reinforce the limited edition nature of each bike, Ecosse has engraved the handlebar on each Iconoclast with the “Iconoclast Series” title, as well as the bike’s individual serial number.

500cc Two-Stroke Bike For 50,000Euros

Swiss Company Suter Racing has worked extensively on a high performance 500 cc V4 two-stroke bike to appease the racing instincts of those who are more than just fond of R1.

For the moment, the cool thing is named the Suter SRT500, the bike’s chassis will be from the Ilmor 2007 MotoGP bike. Suter SRT500, the bike will be powered by a 500cc two-stroke V4 engine that spits out 200 horsepower.

You as a buyer can choose to customize the bike with bits such as carbon fiber wheels, race-spec suspension, titanium exhaust and other accessories. With its amazing torque, and throttle connection, the powerful bike may not need traction control.

You can only dream of owning the bike though, if your pockets are shallow. At 50,000-90,000 Euros, it is meant for the super rich. If you do manage to get the bike for that much an amount, consider yourself, blessed.

Suter Racing officials say that conventional four-stroke MotoGP bikes may end up feeling like tractors, in front of the two-stroke machine. According to them, it fills the dearth of proper 500cc V4 two-stroke engines. It certainly is not for everyone though.

Suzuki To Introduce GSX-R1000cc SuperBikes In India

Suzuki Motorcycles India is planning to enter the new segment of bikes, with entry level motorcycles and is also panning to introduce the new Suzuki GSX-R 1000cc super bike well-known as Gixxer.
The Indian counterpart of Japanese giant Suzuki feels that the entry level motorcycles is the highest selling segment, which includes the bikes in the 75cc to 125cc range. The entry level segment is ruled by the motorcycle company Hero Honda with 80% of the market share. Now, Suzuki India will launch an entry-level motorcycle in the next year to compete with the Hero Honda.

As per the recent updates, the Suzuki has recently invested Rs 150 crore on top of its previous investment for the expansion plans and new launches.

Moreover, the Suzuki is also planning to import its 1000cc GSX-R as completely built units (CBU's). Suzuki already has two other modes running in the segment Hayabusa and Intruder. Suzuki has also increased its production capacity to cope up with the increasing demand of the bikes.

Suzuki has seen a good increase in the sales number as well in comparison to last year sales.

TVS-Launches-Apache-RTR-160-FI-Will-Launch-Four-New-Bike-This-Fiscal

TVS Motor has launched a fuel-injected variant of its Apache motorcycle. Fitted with a 1600cc fuel-injected engine, the new Apache RTR 160 FI is priced at Rs 64,990 ex-showroom Delhi. ‘The fuel injection technology deployed in the RTR FI gives the motorcycle crisper throttle response and enhances its fuel efficiency,’ said HS Goindi, marketing head at TVS Motor Company.

The Chennai-based TVS Motor also has big plans for launching new bikes – the company intends to launch no less than four new bikes in the current fiscal. Some of TVS’ new bikes and scooters will be launched during the festive period in October this year, while the other will come in early next year.

TVS expects a 15-20% growth in sales during the current financial year – the company expects to sell around 15 lakh units in this period. In addition to the fuel-injected Apache RTR 160, TVS also intends to launch Apache variants with bigger engines (to take on bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar 180 and Pulsar 200), a new 125cc motorcycle and more powerful scooter variants.

Given the rising prices of petrol, TVS is also said to be working on CNG / LPG-powered bikes, though details on these are not available at the moment. The company is targeting a 40% increase in exports this year, with overseas sales increasing in the ASEAN region. TVS exports two-wheelers from its plant in Indonesia

Special-Report-Honda-And-Bajaj-SuperBikes-In-India-Shortly

Eying a big potential for luxury bikes in India, where tastes are changing from mass-market machines to high-end bikes, Honda and Bajaj are looking at launching new sportsbikes in the country in the next couple of months.

There had been a sudden surge in the number of International Sportsbikes brands entering the Indian market, over the past two years. Initially the trend was set by Kinetic with the launch of the 250cc, v-twin-powered Hyosung Comet in India back in 2005. Then it was Yamaha, which launched the Yamaha R1 in India and the MT-01 cruiser in 2007. Soon later followed by the Italian motorcycle giant Ducati, who launched an array of superbikes costing up to almost 50 lakhs, and finally Suzuki joined the superbike bandwagon in late-2008, with its Hayabusa superbike and the Intruder cruiser
Keeping with that trend, Honda and Bajaj don’t want to be left behind. Honda now intends to provide some competition to the Yamaha R1and the Suzuki Hayabusa by launching the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade in India, in the first quarter of this year, and following will be a naked version of the bike (pictured below).

Honda also plans to launch the Honda CB1000R in India alongside it. Both bikes are expected to be priced at around Rs 9.5-10.5 lakhs, making them slightly cheaper alternatives to the R1 and the Hayabusa

BACKROAD RAMBILINGS

While meandering through my stack of monthly motorcycle magazines, I stumbled upon a 1000cc shootout that stopped me in my proverbial tracks. Among the entrants compared were the usual lot of Japanese masterpieces, the Honda CBR1000RR, Suzuki GSX-R1000, the Yamaha YFZ-R1, and the Kawasaki ZX-10R. It was the remaining two entrants that prevented me, momentarily, from wandering over to the cupboard for a fistful of Cheez-Its. The Ducati 999S and the MV Agusta F4 1000 S had made the grade of being worthy opponents of the Big Four in this particular shootout, but it's their results that I found a bit disturbing.

Riders with even so much as a hint of racing heritage in their veins can't help but get a little googly eyed over the blood red paint scheme and flowing lines of the Ducati. I mean, after all this is an Italian bike that oozes with the same kind of romantic appeal that has made Ferrari so desirable throughout the ages. Comparatively, the price tag of the Ducati is nearly double that of the R1, which would lead one to believe that perhaps the performance, too then, would be double. Hardly.

While the Yamaha was quoted as putting out 149.9 horsepower and hitting a top speed of 181, the Duc rated 130.8 horses and a top speed of 165. Of course, the Ducati is a V-Twin rather than an inline-Four of its Japanese rivals, and likewise one would expect the bike to be lighter as a result. Wrong again, the R1 weighed in at 423 pounds while the 999 tipped the scales at 434 pounds.

The hard data didn't exactly paint a pretty picture for the Ducati, at least not nearly as well as the photograph of the bike leaning impossibly inward around a tight switch-back did. The report, whether intentional or not, got me thinking about exactly how much (or how little) emphasis we place on hard numbers and performance data in selecting a new model to purchase (or even just to fantasize about).

Worlds-Most-Expensive-Bike-Design

We have earlier also told you about exclusive luxury bikes, including $130,000 Louis Vuitton Motorcycle and 24K gold-plated Kawasaki ZX-636 that will leave your adrenaline pumping, but, this 1,500-pound Tomahawk, is not just a bike...it’s a suerbike! The V10 beast by Chrysler can achieve reach 60 miles an hour in about 2.5 seconds. The Dodge V10 concept was launched at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and is now ready for production. The beaster packs 8.3-liter capacity and 10 cylinders in its engine which can propel it to top speed of nearly 400 mph. The superbike features independent four-wheel suspension and it boasts chrome-draped looks. And, just like its outlandish looks and features, it will carry a price tag of at least $250,000. Only, a few hundred models will run into production, so make-up your mind early, if the tag doesn’t seems torturous to you!!

Victory-Vision-Whats-Heck-Is-That.

Touring bikes are not my passion and highly futuristic designs not my cup of tea. So, when I had several pictures of the new Victory Vision stare at me, I became speechless (translate by what am I going to write about this one). Victory Motorcycles presents the new Vision model as the most progressive American luxury-touring bike ever built. This high tech V-Twin cruiser is the result of more than 6 years of research and development and the Vision models will be available in September. Insiders of the industry know that (thanks to the baby boomers) the “Bagger” segment is the fastest growing. The most valued too, in terms of dollars spent. In addition to its very 21st century look that I let you appreciate or hate, the Vision has an impressive list of features. 50-degree Freedom V-Twin (size undisclosed). Exhaust mufflers nestled in slots under the shell saddlebags. Electric windshield and adjustable side wind deflectors. 6-gallon gas tank (minimum 200 miles range) with incorporated stereo controls. Satellite radio. GPS. MP3 support. Heated grips and seat. 65.6 wheelbase. 26.5” seat height. 29-degree rake. 5.4” of trail Front suspension looks to be the same 43mm fork from the Vegas line. Rear shock is said to have some measure of adjustability. 300mm rotors using three-piston calipers.
Antilock brakes (not confirmed). And of course a price well above 20 K for the 2 versions (Vision Street & Vision Tour with Top Case. Production is supposed to start in June and it’s only at this date that all definitive specifications will be released. My head is spinning. Is the Vision the future of American touring? Maybe. You will tell me what you think. At least I am going to know how many bagger riders read this Blog. But first, go to the special website Polaris/Victory created for its new touring bikes. Victory Vision Experience. It is worth looking at the pictures

Super-Pocket-Bike.

On first impressions most believe (myself included) that you can ride these bikes without any safety gear or legal documentation. However I have researched that the truth is that in the UK these mini bikes are treated in the same manner as any 50cc moped.

However the vast majority of these “mini-moto” riders seem to believe that these rules do not apply to them. To be honest I can understand their point of view. Many of these pocket bikes are so small they do look like toys and one does wonder if they can cause any harm. But in the last few years these bikes have caused a lot of “out cry” due to many of the “Chav” tribe causing a nuisance by riding them at high speed in public areas.

This lack of information regarding these super pocket bikes seems to also exist abroad as this Australian police article shows.

Personally I have not ridden one of these mini pocket bikes so I can’t compare it to the real thing.

If you have ridden one of the pocket bikes or been caused grief by these mini moto riders then please comment!

How-To-Make-Pocket-Bike-Faster.

Pocket bikes are scaled-down versions of performance motorcycles that have 49cc or smaller engines. They are built for younger children and provide the experience of riding a performance motorcycle without the expense and safety issues associated with riding the larger versions of the bikes. As with any motorized vehicle, there seems to always come a time when owners will look for more power, faster speeds, etc., and pocket bikes are no different. This article will take you through the simplest of modification processes in order to add real horsepower to your bike.
Remove the plastic body shrouding around the entire bike using the screwdrivers. Unscrew the mounting bolts and pull the shrouds off. Use the ratchet set to remove the header bolts and muffler mounting bolts and pull the old exhaust off. Loosen and remove the mounting bolts on the carburetor as well and pull the air cleaner hose free. Disconnect the gas lines and pull the carburetor free.

Install the aftermarket exhaust and muffler by bolting the header to the exhaust outtake and then bolting the muffler onto the end of the exhaust pipe. Remount the plastic shrouding around the bike and then start the bike up and take it for a spin. With the increase in fuel and air delivery, your little 49cc engine should be a screamer!

The concepts, which have evolved over the past few years, are definitely heart warming and since we people have the tendency to forget, let us just rev up and see the stunning concepts that have made an impact and left a lasting impression.
Paul Yang wasn’t a designer by profession and he merely fluked it to join hands with the famous Larry Nagel but the amateur status of Paul did not prove to be a hindrance by any means. Indeed, a first time project bike conventionally takes 18 to 24 months for completion and these two managed to produce a moving guzzler mere seven months which talks highly about the efficiency and dedication of this Duo .
The Peraves Monotracer combines the features of a sports bike and a sports car and if any of you doubt it, just as a substantiation, it took Peraves some 90 prototypes and 12 million kilometers to be sure that they live up to the rumored repute . When the driver dives into a corner a retractable stabilizer wheel is positioned in less than a half a second, enabling the bike to lean up to 52 degrees more, than most sport bikes in their lifetime.

Bmw-Imme-1200.

Nicolas Bubar (22) and Yves Dufeutrelle (24) are design students at the international school of design and they thought that a sports bike based on the BMW 1200 boxer would be good idea. Tell you what folks; it definitely was a good idea for the IMME 1200 would now be presented at the next Munich Motorcycle Show at BMW stands.

Nitin Khosa designed this amazing concept to satiate a thirty plus individual who was looking to redeem his attitude and youth with a stunning, aggressive, and evil looking bike. Khosa answered his cause by creating the Dacoit (a class of robbers in India who act in gangs and are usually armed and dangerous). The face of the bike depicts an evil figure whose eyes/headlights are peeping from underneath the hood.

The Embrio from Bombraider is a prototype, which could become a virtual reality somewhere around 2025 for this technology is too ultramodern considering the present generation bikes. It sports a single wheel and is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, which creates power by mixing hydrogen and oxygen, creating only water as a by-product.

AeroDynamic-Canopy-For-Your-Luxury-Bike.

Yes you heard it right, now there is an aerodynamic canopy for sports bikes called Rocketshields.

According to the inventor of Rocketshields, David Fermil, the project started with the aim to keep the rain off of David’s face, while commuting daily from Ensenada, Mexico to San Diego.

However it has now evolved into a product which not only protects him from rain and mist, but also from hot winds.

According to David, the canopy can withstand winds at 150mph and still maintain good all around visibility. Add to that one doesn’t need to install any extra mounts or bolts and rocketshield can easily be fixed on stock front and rear mountings of your motorcycle.

While I have to admit that it does look futuristic and would certainly attract a lot of attention, I am not quite sold at the idea of supporting one on my motorcycle.

LUXURY BIKES

We have wondered how Yamaha is still on top in sports bikes. The clear fact behind this success is the technology they use in their bikes. The best bikes launched by Yamaha Motor company are FJR1300AS, the 1000cc big naked models FZ1 and FZ1 Fazer, YFZ-R1 and YFZ-R6. The FJR1300AS features the new YCC-S that enables gear changes without clutch operation, while the YZF-R6 adopts with YCC-T, the first electronic controlled throttle on a production motorcycle. Yamaha also introduced its GENICH engineering concept that makes use of state of art electronic control technologies in motorcycle development. The YCC-S and YCC-T feature on the FJR1300AS and YZF-R6 are examples of this concept at work in motorcycle design.

Top-Honda-Luxury-Bikes-Launched-At Kyalami.

Honda SA has launched its 2005 sports flagships on to the South African market with a flat-out track session at Kyalami racetrack near Johannesburg.

There an unruly mob of bike journos was able to give the new bikes big handfuls of throttle without worrying about such things as taxis, speed limits and traffic cops.

Before that, however, Honda SA motorcycle division head Basil Forssman presented the new CBR600RR and CBR1000RR Fireblade to the media.

He explained that pure sports machines ("superbikes" in PR-speak) make up about 10 percent of the two-wheeled market.

Honda now has 24 percent of that elite segment, thanks mostly to earlier versions of these two models; the 2004 CBR600RR was in fact last year's top 600-class sports bike.

Then it was time to put the bikes to the ultimate test on South Africa's premier racing circuit, an incredibly difficult track where nearly all the corners are blind. I spent the first session on the bigger machine re-learning where all the corners go, then settled down to some smooth laps on the 600.

Despite the phenomenal poise and competence of Honda's finest, I must admit that the high point of the day was being passed (no, let's be honest – demolished) by honoured guest Jim Redman, who won six World GP titles for Honda in the 1960s and is still racing at 73.

After all, how many street riders can boast of sharing a track with a living legend

Special-Report-Honda-And-Bajaj Luxury Bike.

Soon later followed by the Italian motorcycle giant Ducati, who launched an array of superbikes costing up to almost 50 lakhs, and finally Suzuki joined the superbike bandwagon in late-2008, with its Hayabusa superbike and the Intruder cruiser.

Both bikes are expected to be priced at around Rs 9.5-10.5 lakhs, making them slightly cheaper alternatives to the R1 and the Hayabusa.

Bajaj-Auto-Posts-Q1-Net-Profit-Of-Rs.1.75 Billion

Despite a slowdown in two-wheeler sales, Bajaj Auto Ltd. has posted a net profit of Rs 1.75 billion (US$41 million) in the first quarter of this fiscal.

Following a restructuring which split the manufacturing and financial services businesses into separate firms, Bajaj Auto relisted in May this year. The company’s net sales for the quarter amounted to Rs 23.11 billion.

Bajaj sold 620,095 motorcycles, scooters and three-wheelers in the first quarter of this fiscal, an increase of 8.5 percent over the same period last year. The company, which expects two-wheeler sales to be flat during 2008-09, plans to launch four new 125cc bikes, weaning consumers away from lower-capacity, lower-margin 100cc motorcycles.

Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL) has decided to produce its first four-wheeler light commercial vehicle – the PV1500 – at its manufacturing facility at Waluj, near Aurangabad. This LCV, which is expected to hit the market by mid-2009, will be designed and developed in-house, by BAL’s own technical and R&D team.

At one time, Bajaj used to produce various components for its two-wheelers at its Waluj factory. The sheds where these components used to be made are now not in use, since components are sourced from outside. The company may use these sheds to set up assembly lines for the PV1500.

With a payload capacity of one tonne, the PV1500 will go up against the Tata Ace. To source components for their first four-wheeler LCV, Bajaj is also likely to set up a vendor park at the Waluj, where suppliers will be encouraged to set up operations

Harley-Davidson-Launches-New-Iron-883.

Most motorcycles are, by definition, luxury items. In the United States, a very small percentage of motorcycle riders use their bikes as daily transportation, instead choosing to take the “cage” for the various day-to-day trips that are a necessary part of life. This being the case, as fewer people have reserves of money left over to spend on discretionary items in a recession, sales of Harley-Davidson’s Big Twin models are suffering.

Enter the new Iron 883, which is based on the Sportster underpinnings and features a fuel-injected 883cc V-twin powerplant. Besides the smaller displacement engine, the rest of the bike mimics the bobbed look of its larger sibling, the Nightster 1200, right down to the blacked-out color palette, front fork gaiters, solo saddle and side-mounted license plate holder. This cost cutting has allowed Harley to place a $7,899 price tag on its Iron 883, neatly undercutting the Nightster by a full $2,000.

If you are not satisfied with Hayabusa, Fireblade or Yamaha R1, then you should look forward to the BMW motorcycles which would enter into the Indian market in the near future. Almost 13 years after its abortive attempt to enter the Indian market through a joint venture with the Hero Group, German luxury carmaker BMW is planning another foray into the country’s minuscule high-end motorcycle market
The company is studying India’s high-end and premium motorcycle market to introduce its Motorrad range of super bikes in India, said a top BMW India official. “Our people from BMW Motorcycle are having a look at the market. They are also in discussion with us for feedback on the matter.

As soon as we see potential for available market entry for sustainable growth, we would take that into consideration,” said Peter Kronschnabl, president, BMW India. The bikes of the Motorrad range will cost more than Rs.10 lakh in India, said another BMW India official.

Joe and I went to Tampere today, and as result we now have secured three brand-new Skyteam Monkeys through sponsorship from Motor Power and the Skyteam factory.
In addition to the bikes that should be available before weekend we will also get a hoard of spare parts.
This is a great leap for the project, as now we only need to confirm the maintenance car and ferry services to Germany. Thanks to Motor Power for the deal! In addition to Monkey's, the company also sells Huoniao "Red Army - Long March" motorcycles. Fascinating...

Monkeying around doesn't mean only climbing up trees, shagging and detecting flees from your skin. Sometimes even the leading chimpanzee has to relax, socialize and negotiate with sponsors. For these rare occasions every ape has a decent suit.
Of course the white camouflage works much better on winter season, but it attracts more interested females when apes have a light tanning. Only thing that would make an ape more natural in the urban jungle would be roaming 50cc motor between his legs and autobahn in front of him.

Luxury-Touring-Shootout

You can see it in your mind as you daydream about it. Every inch of storage is loaded with all you’ll need for the next three days or three weeks. Whatever music gets your motor runnin’ is pumping from the CD player or satellite radio receiver. Your significant other may or may not be along for the ride, but if they are they’re perched comfortably in the armchair-like passenger accommodations.
Any cold weather you may encounter doesn’t bother you because your seat is heated at the flick of switch, and a big windscreen shields you from wind, rain and bugs. Getting lost doesn’t really worry you ‘cause you opted for the GPS system, and once you’re finally out on that long stretch of lonely interstate you can relax a little after setting the cruise control.

You’re on a road trip, the Great American Getaway. But are you in a car or on a bike? Judging from the above carefully chosen wording it’s hard to tell. Slippery wording aside, the truth is that we’re talking about motorcycles. And if we’re talking about motorcycles with such accoutrements, then we must be talking touring bikes!

Because touring is such an important part of the U.S. bike market, we wanted to get the best of what of each manufacturer had to offer. In light of that we went with a trio of luxury liners that are made in America, and we ordered them as loaded with options as we could get them. Let the trip begin…

Custom Vehicle Operations, or CVO for short, is a small collection of bikes gathered from Harley’s substantial array of motorcycles. This separate line-up usually consists of four bikes chosen from among the standard models, each receiving the hop-up treatment from a group of designers and engineers dedicated exclusively to the CVO line.

Each bike is a rolling display of many of the thousands of accessories available in the fabled Harley-Davidson Parts and Accessories Catalog. The bikes have rap sheets of chrome bits and custom accessories too long to list. Three available paint schemes that are unique to the CVO line, and truly are custom, receive hours of closely supervised painting and hand-laid pin-striping.

Yamaha-For-Luxury Bike.

When we talk about sports what comes to our mind? Race, bikes, cars, etc. What strikes immediately when we get to hear about bike races? powerful, classic and colorful sport bikes… Yamaha, what does this word brings to your mind? Of course sport bikes. Yamaha has successfully launched some of the daring motor cycles of the world. We may say that this company is dedicated to racing sport. We can describe a lot about the creations of yamaha and one of their destroying creation is YFZ-R1. It a 1000cc devil and posseses high torque. Its light weight and 600 class chassis targets high speed and performance. The bike is equipped with a short-stroke 998cc DOHC, 20-valve, liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a peak power of 175 bhp. Apart from all the technical stuffs we are astonished to see its style and daring outlook. It impressive and kindles the curiosity to experience to take a ride on it. Its one of my favorite bikes ever since it was released. Hope sport lovers and rash riders wish to have one of this.

Launched in 1973, the two stroke RD was certainly no YZR, but it sure was the definite high performance street going stroker. The bike only costs half as much as Kawasaki Z1, and a Ducati 750SS was more than three times as expensive. And yet, an RD 350 was usally quicker and faster than both those bikes, around most racing circuits. A well tuned Rd350 is a raw, visceral riding experience which all motor cyclists shouldgo through at least once. Escorts sold the Yamaha RD 350 in India from mid 1980s to early 1990s, and if you try hard enough, you still might get your hands on a well maintained example.

Actually, we’ve never underestimated Harley CVO division’s power to deliver a radically upgraded Road Glide. Everything on this bike is taken to a whole new level, unveiling a treatment more likely for supersports bikes to benefit of.

And for the new 2009 model, it is the third edition of a Road Glide model from the CVO group. This motorcycle first appeared in 2000 and made a splash with its distinctive, slashing Screamin’ Eagle head on each side of its VR Racing Orange fairing. For this new model, it is design by the inspiration for the paint scheme, which features ghosted flamed feathers in the accent stripe on the fairing, tank, side covers and bags, and a more-subtle Screamin’ Eagle on the fairing.

The CVO Road Glide is powered by the Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110 engine, 110 cubic inches of pure American V-Twin muscle and the largest engine offered by Harley-Davidson. Also available only on CVO models, the Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) Twin Cam 110 produces 115 ft. lbs. of torque at 4000 rpm and features electronic throttle control and a heavy-duty, self-adjusting clutch with hydraulic actuation. Meanwhile, in CVO-exclusive granite powdercoat with chrome covers, and features a new “110 Screamin’ Eagle” badge on the air cleaner cover insert. For the air intake, the engine breathes through a new air cleaner cover with an exposed Stage 1 Screamin’ Eagle element, and exhaust escapes through four-inch chrome touring mufflers with chrome billet end caps. A custom oil cooler has a chrome cover with the CVO logo. In addition, the new Touring chassis is equipped with a new motor-mount system that reduces engine shake at idle, a new 2-1-2 exhaust system with a one-piece front exhaust shield, and a new 180 mm Dunlop Multi-Tread rear tire that offers longer tread life and 27 percent more luggage payload.

For the exterior look, it is equipped with composite skirts are added to the saddlebag bottoms and wrap over the exhaust pipe outlets. Filler strips between the saddlebag and rear fender incorporate LED stop/turn/tail lights that replace the traditional fender-mounted lights and signals. The front fender has been lowered about three-quarters of an inch to balance the bike visually front-to-rear with a new mounting bracket, and the fender covers a new 18-inch-diameter front wheel. The effect is to place the front fender skirt as low as is practically possible for street use. The CVO Road Glide rolls on 18-inch Blade chrome forged aluminum wheels front and rear.

For the more comfortable, two-up seat with Buffalo inserts and a matching passenger backrest. The new Touring exhaust system creates more space between the passenger and the exhaust pipe, producing less heat. Also, The CVO Road Glide is features with Brembo brakes with ABS are standard equipment and for entertainment, there has two-speaker AM/FM/WB/CD/MP3 Advanced Audio System by Harman /Kardon, and air-adjustable rear suspension.

The 2009 CVO Road Glide comes with three color combinations. That is Stardust Silver with Titanium Dust, Yellow Pearl with Charcoal Slate and Electric Orange with Vivid Black. For the security equipment, a security system with smart siren, a CVO indoor cover and unique Harley-Davidson CVO gold ignition key with display box are included.

Aprilia Luxury 600s on The Cards

The Piaggio group, which owns Aprilia, Gilera and Derbi has told investors it intends to develop a range of sports bikes with mid-sized engines for the American market, MCN can reveal.
The Italian manufacturer announced its intentions in its 2009-2012 Strategic Plan. But it has yet to reveal any concrete details about the bikes. However, rumours suggest the bikes will carry an Aprilia badge.

It simply said: “The Group intends to work on the growth of different brand names, also through the development of sport bikes with mid-sized engines.”

As soon as any more information emerges MCN will be the first to bring it to you.
Would certainly be interested in an Aprilla 600! Don't quite understand all the hate regarding Italian reliability on here, either. I've never owned an Italian bike, but my GSXR 600 has broken several times in the last 12 months - including a serious Gearbox gremlin. Jap bikes (in my experience) are not as faultless as some people assume
Will be interesting to see, a middleweight v4 sportsbike would tick all mt boxes personaly and I can think of a few other fellow riders that would be very interested by this. I think the main concern would be competitivly priced next to the japanese supersports. O and wings1372, aprilia's are ultra reliable and built to last, my main riding buddy has a 01 rsv which huge miles on the clock he rarely services it and it has never given him any issues, he says he trusts it more than any of the jap bikes, I would get one but I cant get on with the twin thing

Had my RSV 3 years and 23,000 miles..No problems and has started first press every time..Unlike my R1 which chewed its gearbox at 13,000 and my Kawasaki ZX9 which blew its head gasket at 18,000..
Italian bikes have moved on from their well deserved reputation

Honda CBR 150R for India

Yamaha and Suzuki have had more exposure than any other bike company in India because of the launch of FZ16 and R15 from Yamaha and GS150R from Suzuki. But Hero Honda and Honda are busy stickering up their bikes. New CBZ Xtreme, New Passion Pro are both just sticker upgrades and has no change in the engine or performance, which seems to be quite lame. And many Indian bikers got disappointed with the launch of Honda Unicorn Grand Prix edition, another sticker work, which is not so good looking and gives an idea that Honda is just trying to catch up in the two-wheeler market.

Will Honda susprise us in 2009? I am also a fan of Honda cars and I feel that Honda is not intimidated by the bike launches from Yamaha and Suzuki. The people at Hondas may have something bigger in store for us and are waiting for the right time, I guess. Now, Introduce yourself to Honda CBR 150R
The CBR series of bikes from Honda is more than just a famous brand name. Now with the launch of Yamaha R15, India is in need for competing sports bikes with latest technology. This may lead to Honda bringing the CBR 150R to India. This bike is far more technologically advanced than the R15 and is a real sports bike, not a sporty looking bike! Anyway this is not a news, but just a speculation. Stay tuned for more bike news.

Moto-Guzzi Bike.

The New Moto Guzzi Griso 1100 wonderfully embodies the European-style custom motorcycle. Squat and very long but with a riding position typical of a roadster, this motorcycle aims to be as well adapted to cruising on the motorway as to sharper riding on winding little roads, or just a ride around town. The impressive upside-down fork and rear shock absorber are both fully adjustable. DElivering 88 bhp, the engine clearly retains the traditional Moto Guzzi architecture (longitudinal 90–degree V twin) but the gearbox and shaft drive notably has been completely redesigned while the electronic fuel injection helps it make through the Euro-3 norms.
Continuing the legacy of the legendary Ninja ZX12-R, is Kawasaki’s new NinjaZX14-R. Powering the bike is a 1352cc ram air, fuel-injected engine, which is also Kawasaki’s most powerful ever. This all new in-line four cylinder unit is an evolution of the engine that has made the Ninja ZX-12R such a joyful experience. Following an over square layout or 84mm bore against 61mm stroke, the units packaged into a purposefully designed compact outline that minimizes engine width. Further, it’s only past 6000rpm when the motor really comes into its on. But having said that, the torque distribution is so marvelous that pulling away is possible at any speed, and in any gear. The engine uses a secondary balancer to tame unwanted vibrations, and a direct-actuation shift lever is lighter than conventional linkage-type set-pus, offering a more direct feel for the rider. The ZX-14’s chassis design too is an advanced version of Kawasaki’s unique aluminum monochrome frame, which is both lightweight and very strong. This sophisticated approach gives the ZX-14 responsive handling and incredible highway stability. Inherently more rigid than twin-spar frames, and with the engine rigid than twin-spar frames, and with the engine rigid-mounted the monocoque’s strength is greatly increased.
